    Swarovski DCB (original version) Instructions

Hi All I am looking for a set of instructions for the original and first released Swarovski DCB camera adapter. I would be really grateful if someone is able to please send me a scan or picture if at all possible! Thanks in advance Mark

New tripod for (oldish but perfectly fine) Swarovski 80 ATS HD

In the end I bought the GHF2W head along with the G3542 legs; chose the 4 section tripod which now fits in my suitcase. Swarovski charged me £208 to convert to the AS foot. I am absolutely delighted with the set-up - spent several hours at the D’Albufera nature reserve in Mallorca yesterday...

Think I’m down to a choice of 2 - Gitzo Mountaineer Series 2 or 3

Thanks for all your ongoing help I am pretty much decided on a Gitzo GHF2W Consequently to match I think I would go for either Gitzo series 3 mountaineer GT3542L (2kg) or the Series 2 GT 2542 (1.7kg), but I cannot find a shop where I can compare the two together. I am 1.83m (6ft) with an...

New tripod for (oldish but perfectly fine) Swarovski 80 ATS HD

Things have changed a little since my last post. I had a problem with my 30x eyepiece needing repair by Swarovski, so I decided to get the Arca Suisse conversion too on the scope whilst I was at it. I am hopefully going to try the GHF2W at Wex photo in Leeds next week and want some suitable...

Swarovski 30x eyepiece - broken or not?

Thanks all. The set screws are visible around an inch down inside the housing, presumably with the inner sleeve. I’ll see if it’s possible to try and lassoo with some thread, but I’m not optimistic. Thanks for all the replies- at least I have established clearly my eyepiece is not as it should be!

Swarovski 30x eyepiece - broken or not?

I am wondering if the opposite may have occurred - on the piece that has come loose there are two holes opposite each other on the metal cylinder. If I look down in the sides of the lens I can see two corresponding pointed “rivets” that should sit in the holes. (The rivets are visible in your...

Swarovski 30x eyepiece - broken or not?

My eye piece for spectacle wearers seems to have entirely unscrewed . I have had it for nearly 20 years, and I don’t think this has happened before, but am not entirely sure. Quick question is this normal or not!? It easily slides back in but there is no way of securing it.

Swarovski old style foot conversion to Arca Suisse

Still shopping John! There seem to be mixed views on here about QR plates so keeping an open mind

Swarovski old style foot conversion to Arca Suisse

Swarovski have confirmed that it is possible to convert my 20 yr old ATS 80 HD to have an Arca Suisse foot at the cost of £230. Don’t know whether I will or not, but thought may be useful for others to know! cheers Mark

New tripod for (oldish but perfectly fine) Swarovski 80 ATS HD

Current head is rubbish, so I definitely need to change Think I am focusing in on Gitzo GHF2W, Manfrotto 128RC and Manfrotto 500AH Just need to find somewhere to try them all in person

New tripod for (oldish but perfectly fine) Swarovski 80 ATS HD

Do I have a QR foot? I know that my foot will go into the 128RC without an adapter plate. Is this true of any other heads or will all the alternatives require an adapter plate? If I do use an adapter, how do I stop it from working loose. I have read a lot of threads on here and am finding it...

New tripod for (oldish but perfectly fine) Swarovski 80 ATS HD

I’m in the rather fortunate position of choosing something as a leaving present from my Partnership. I currently have a cheap velbon aluminium tripod with a terrible head. It is poor and vibrates in any wind. The scope tends to become loose on the adapter plate which is also a pain. I would...

    Yorkshire Birding

I've been at the Strid all week. No sign of Pied Flycatchers/redstart yet - Chiff Chaff only started singing here yesterday. Good views of mandarins, a smart male goosander, dippers, peregrine at Malham Cove and red grouse on the moors

    Warbler in Irish Sea

A friend of mine has shown me a picture of this warbler, that spent the night on his yacht on October 1st. He was 40 miles west of Milford Haven in St George's Channel ( Irish Sea). Any thoughts as to species please? Many thanks

    Yorkshire Birding

Very obliging Gropper near the iron windmill at Wheldrake this afternoon, right out in full view. Curlew calling at the same time which made for a delightful duet. Plenty of sedge and the common warblers too, butterflies all over place. Also got lovely views of a stoat on the path who stopped...

iPhone app that allows you to mark off birds seen ?

Birdwatcher's Diary: I have fiddled with this for a while - not great! here is my review left on the App store "Has potential, but still far too many bugs to make this useful. Despite reporting these, particularly issues to do with saving & deleting data files ( the files reappear!!) I have...

New Swarovision EL v Old EL

I have recently taken the plunge having tried the old Swaros, Leica and Zeiss together, as well as the new swarovision. The new swaros were streets ahead of all of them. I have the 8.5 x42s and quite simply they are breathtaking (and addictive as someone mentioned earlier!) I don't get the...
