    The single fledged Robin should be fine it was obviously making the most of your generous handouts of mealworms. People often don't realise just how vulnerable recently fledged young are with them still fully building up the muscles to fly efficiently. Its pretty amazing that any chicks survive...

    Just downloaded it and given.it a quick go. It correctly identified some species but also added Blackcap (which I couldn't hear so doubtful) and Swift which are present but I couldn't see any at that time. Personally I wouldn't want to rely on it without getting some kind of look at the bird...

    Shaw House this is the spot, you can't miss it due to the very short grass surrounded by dry stone walls directly behind the farm.

    Arkengarthdale is very much in the public domain for Black Grouse. It should be very easy to Google the name of the farm you need. They are viewable distantly (but still decent views) from a public road overlooking the farm where they frequent. They are often tricky to connect with so patience...

    Thanks for the reply. I did consider Harlequin but wrongly assumed that they were noticeably bigger. Thanks for the id pointers, there were quite a few ladybirds in that small area, I will have to have a closer look the next time I'm up there.

    Just had a quick Google and am I right in thinking that the right one is a 2 Spot Ladybird? Am I wrong thinking that all three were mating (whatever the correct term.is)?

    I had a very similar scenario but the post didn't have a cap on. It didn't end well as the post filled with rainwater and flooded the nest. I'm pretty sure if the parents can manage to get in and out the young will manage ok when they are ready to fledge.

    I once saw a Peregrine having a long chase of a Lapwing. They both ended up knackered and ended up on the deck a few yards apart. It looked like they called it a draw and both flew off in different directions after a few minutes great to watch.
