    Birding in Worcestershire

A 5 mile walk around the Wyre Forest today was fairly unproductive apart from a flyby Dipper, lots of Robins, Blue Tits, Coal Tits, flyover Siskin and a couple of Grey Wagtails. The only positive was that it didn’t rain! On the way home we decided to call at Blackstone, Bewdley and we’re so...

A rather unseasonal last visit to Upton for us today, it felt more like Autumn than 31st December with the ‘warm’ temperatures and cloud bursts! From the Hobby hide we saw: water rail, reed bunting, gadwall, shoveler, mallard, sparrowhawk and moorhen. The feeder was busy with blue tits, great...

An enjoyable visit to the reserve yesterday, quiet at the Flashes apart from Lapwing, 1 Green Sandpiper and 12 Curlew. The Bittern didn’t show at the Moors but it was nice to see everything else in some lovely Autumnal sunshine! Highlight bird for us was a Female Wheatear on Webbs car park...

An enjoyable day was had at Dowles Brook today. Lots of singing Blackcaps along the brook, Grey Wagtail, Kingfisher and Dipper also seen together with 4 pairs of Mandarin. Fascinating to watch the posturing between 2 pairs of Mandarin with the males making themselves look bigger by puffing out...

Thank you for your reply Geoff! We viewed the Flashes from the public footpath yesterday and it was a bit of trek from the A38 side so I was just wondering if it would be closer (and with less stiles) from the other side of the footpath. We had distant views of Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper...

Just wondering which is the preferable approach for the public footpath - from the A38 or from the south?
