    Patience

I grew up in New Jersey and the call of morning doves is a great childhood memory. I spent the last 30 years in interior Alaska and we recently moved to Montana. So I am enjoying all the species (especially waterfowl) that do not occur in interior Alaska. We have a large pasture, so we put up...

Upgrading from Bridge Camera to M43

Excellent post! As a newbie, I think opportunity, skill, and equipment as a triangle. Living 5-minutes from a National Wildlife Refuge here in Montana, I have plenty of opportunity. But as a newbie, skill is my "weak link" so learning from my mistakes with a used bridge camera. The nice...

Thank you. A magical moment for this newbie. I waited in my pop-up blind for hours with no luck. Patience helps increase the likelihood of good luck.

Thank you. I lived in interior Alaska for the past 30 years, so it is such a treat to see new duck species down here 5 minutes from our new home in Montana. Cinnamon Teal range from South America up to western North America, but about 2000 miles south of interior Alaska.

    Patience

As a newbie, I am learning the value of patience. For example, I entered a cattail marsh at 1pm in the afternoon to set up a popup blind. Most of the ducks flew away when I was over 100 meters from the marsh. I set up the popup blind anyways and got comfortable in a chair. A few coots stayed and...

    Drake Cinnamon Teal

I waited for a couple hours before this drake finally swam out from the jungle of grasses where he was feeding. As a newbie, I'm learning how important patience can be. This teal is found in South America and western North America.

    Drake Redhead, western Montana, USA

A was in a blind at sunset at a cattail pond during the spring migration when this drake redhead swam by. I liked how the background looks like the sky at sunset and then blends into the water.

Canon EOS R6 MarkII or Canon EOS R7?

He means that since the R7 is a 1.6 crop sensor camera, whereas the R6 mkii is a full frame camera, the effective focal length is longer with the R7. For example, with a RF 100-500mm lens, the R7 would have an effective focal length of 160-800mm-eq. zoom.
