    Can definitely recommend Las Cruces research station at Wilson's Botanical Garden. Fantastic spot to stay and get some middle elevation species from the South Pacific of Costa Rica. Jealous you got the Coquette, I've dipped on it on both my stays there so far. Going to try again in a few weeks!

    This one was a half lifer for me on Monday. I count heard only birds for my Life List but also maintain a list of those heard onlys.     Seen in Palm Spring, CA in early April. Looking back through my photos from a trip and want to make sure I get the ID right on this one. I think it's a female Costa's Hummingbird but want to make sure it's not an Anna's. Not sure how separable the females are, could always upload it as Calypte sp.

    I don't have access to the PDF but it seems like the abstract of this paper hints that they would. My gut reaction is also that yes, they likely do as they're quite resourceful when it comes to nest building materials.
