    Seabirds Harrison

Had my completed order email from Lynx a week ago, but no mention of the book being shipped so far. I ordered Seabirds at the same time as All the Birds of the World and when I received my completed order for that book I got a shipping email the following day. So a little surprised I’ve not had...

    Birds of Argentina

Well if it makes you feel any better I’m one of the artists and haven’t seen a copy. So don’t think that many people have got hold of one.

    Rare Birds of North America

Actually, doesn't time fly. Before people wonder which Oriental Turtle Dove I was referring to it was in 2011, not last year. So he'll have been working on it a little longer than in I'd thought. Still it was a fairly recent comment on facebook which indicated it was someway off. You may be...

    Rare Birds of North America

My impression is this is quite sometime off. I think Ian said at the Oriental Turtle Dove last year that he'd not long been asked to do it and there's comments on his Facebook page saying it will take several years.

    Has Birding World Folded?

If you read the farewell bit of the last issue (page 529), it tells you what to do there.

Bill Oddie Guest Editor on February Issue

I got mine through nhbs, John, pre-ordered. There does seem to have been some sort of confusion and publication has been brought forward. On nhbs website it still states March for publication, but availability is saying in stock. Amazon has publication of 17 Jan 2014 which was changed from...

    Turkey, August what to expect

I think Dan could be right concerning the woodpeckers Dave. I've just been to western Turkey recently and all the woodpeckers I saw (and I saw quite a few too) were Syrian. They're very similar in appearance to GS, which I don't think occurs in the south west. The squirrels would be Persian too...

    videoscoping with Sony HDR-HC3E

Hi Musti, Sounds like you could do with the digiscoping eyepiece from eagleeye, see here http://www.eagleeyeuk.com/erol2eu/erol.html I use it with my videocamera and it works a treat, cutting out vignetting right down to a low mag on the camera. Richard

    Calidris sp. for ID

I think these are juvenile Red-necked Stints. The bird in the 3rd photo is different to the bird in the other two photos as it shows less wear on the scapulars and coverts. One reason they're unlikely to be little is because this is a vagrant to Australia. Unsure on how many records there are...

    Scillonian Pelagic 2005

Porthgwarra wouldn’t necessarily be the better bet, Bluetail. If the winds where in the south-west area yes, but if it was north-west Pendeen would be better.

    BWP. Illustrator query

If you've not heard of Brian Small before he also has illustrations in 'The Birds of East Africa' and has started doing stuff in the last couple of volumes of HBW, his work in the last volume is getting very good. Mark Hulmes ducks are well painted, but for me Ian Lewingtons plates are the...
