    Epson Printer problems

What I normally do to reduce the chance of ink drying in the inkjets, is to do a couple of test prints a week (if I am not going to be using the printer). If you Google print test page there are any amount on there. These contain all the colours that are in the ink cartridges (or ink tanks if...

    Epson Printer problems

In case you need to replace your printer (if you can't get the issue sorted). I got one of their Eco Tank models last year and it's been the best printer I have owned in a longtime. Basically there are no ink cartridges in it and it has ink tanks instead. You get bottles of ink for the four...

    Leica Bins

I own two pairs of Leica binoculars, the last pair which is the Ultravid 8x20 which I purchased in January 2022. Back then I wanted to have a pocket sized binocular, which would enable me to have some binoculars with me when and wherever I was. I have always been really impressed with Leica...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

For me the first pair would have to be my Leica Duovid 10-15x50. These have been fantastic binoculars in my 20 years of owning them. For me they are (and were at the time of purchase) like having two pairs of binoculars in one, and on their 15x they are nearing scope territory, plus their optics...

Leica Ultravid 8x20 dissection (The beauty)

Very impressive and well written review @dorubird I've owned these little beauties since January 2022. Back then I wanted to have a pocket sized binocular, which would enable me to have some binoculars with me when and wherever I was. I have always been really impressed with Leica...

    Used Bridge Camera Options

I've owned a couple of Panasonic Bridge Cameras and I have been extremely happy with them. All the ones I've owned have had Leica lenses in them. I firstly owned the FZ28 and later (think it was around 2014) I purchased the FZ200 and I still own this and use it from time to time. It's been an...

Leica UV 8x20 vs Zeiss VP 8x25

I was asking myself the very same question at the beginning of 2023 about wanting a pocket sized binocular, that would truly fit in my pocket. After reading lots online and also on this excellent forum, I settled on the Leica Ultravid 8x20. Here's my findings after owning them now for 18 or so...

Thanks for that. I'll bear that in mind next time we are down there next at summer.

    Bird ID London

Thanks for the help. The place I saw it mentioned Hobby's on the information boards, and I thought it may have been one of them. Or well, maybe wishful thinking on my part.

    Bird ID London

I have a feeling this might be either a juvenile or female Hobby, but would like someone with more knowledge to confirm the ID. Thanks.

    Are Duovids any good?

I've owned mine since 2003 (I have the 10-15x50 model) and I absolutely love mine. It's like having two pairs of binoculars in one, and with the 15x magnification you are approaching scope territory. I can remember debating between the Duovid and another pair of Leica binoculars (I forget the...

    Magpie chasing kestrel hawk

I saw two Magpies chasing/mobbing a Buzzard a couple of weeks ago. They were pretty persistent and chased it for some time. Not sure if Buzzard's would take chicks (as I don't have that much knowledge on Buzzards) or if the Magpies had a nest nearby and were chasing the Buzzard away from it...

Leica Ultravid 8x20 detachable neck strap

Hello everyone. I have a pair of Leica Ultravid 8x20. I’m not a big fan of the included neck strap, and ideally would like a neck strap that would attach and detach quickly, rather than having to feed the strap through buckles etc. I don’t need the strap on all the time, so some sort of quick...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

Today I used my Leica Ultravid 8x20. These tend to be the binoculars I use most of the time when I am out walking, as they fit in any pocket I have, and the optics are exceptional. I also have a pair of Leica Duovid 10-15x50, but I tend to only take these when I have my rucksack with me (as...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

Seen three Kestrels within 40 minutes of each other while out walking (which is uncommon in my experience in my area). Seen one male first, and then seen a pair (male and female). Was having a seat to admire to view and I heard a bird that I don't get chance to see very much, I got the...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

Not today, but two days ago I spotted a Greenfinch as I was walking along a little wooded path. I heard this bird twittering, and too be honest I've heard this twittering before and mistakenly thought it was coming from a Great Tit. I spotted it in the tree and managed to get a good look at it...

    Tawny Owl

Coming back off a walk this evening and spotted this Tawny Owl sitting in a bush. Managed to get around six feet from it. Seemed very tame and I was able to get a few pictures of it, hope it was not ill.

'The Big Three': NL Pure, Noctivid, Victory SF - A Brief Comparison

I own a pair of Leica DuoVid that I got around 2002-2003. The rubber material on them is still like new. I got a pair if Leica Ultravid at the beginning of 2022 and those look like the same rubber material as the DuoVid, so I have high hopes for the rubber material on those. I find with the...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

Yesterday (28 October 2022) I saw a female Goldeneye, Peregrine Falcon (too high up to tell the sex) which was getting mobbed by a couple of Buzzards.

    Your Most Recent "Life" Bird

My last one was a Tree Sparrow. They are not too common in my area and was pleased to see one (well there were around four on the top of a hedgerow). I seen this at Camerton in Cumbria on the 3rd June 2022.
