Curio 7x21 vs Leica trinovid 8x20

Just did about 35miles down canal and river paths on my new bike, and had the Little 8x20 Ultras around my neck, tucked into my top. I barely knew they were there.... and would not have taken my old 8x25's. Saw a heron fishing, one field mouse in the middle of the path, nearly ran him over, but...

I've seen the Marsh Harrier there twice recently, both times in the evening.

    Mid-level 10x50 (Maven B6) vs Alpha 10x42 (Noctivid)

I am too interested in why.... No Zeiss No Swaro No AK's As someone has pointed out..... your options are somewhat closing in !!

Trinovid pre-HD 8x42 vs Ultravid BR 8x42 vs Ultravid HD 7x42

No bad choices there. Take your pick. If the pre-HD trinovids are BN's they are a classic.

    Case for sf binoculars

Why is the case ridiculous...?? I'm curious. Personally, I never use a case unless transporting my bins... like in a car for example, and I do have a case inside my rucksack for when they are in there. I'm fanatical about having the lens covers on at both ends, but can't be bothered with a...

    Pocket binoculars

Hi will, So I had lunch today outside in a dark wooded area. Had my 8x20 Ultravids so had a look. I can say with certainty that I could see more with the binos than the naked eye. Quite a bit more aswell, looking into really dark areas. I did not have my HT's with me though, which would have...

    Problem with EL 8x42 strap

I think this has come up before. That strap system is a 'cure' for a problem that never existed. I'm sure you're not the first.

    Pocket binoculars

Both actually.... in the Oakley cloth case, they are so small

    Pocket binoculars

Hi William, not sure if yours is the Trinovid, or an old version, but I haven't experieced this 'dimmer than the naked eye' in darker conditions with my (new version) Ultavids. Infact the opposite. I have been impressed in these conditions, given their exit pupil. A notch behind the Curio, but...

    Pocket binoculars

I think folk expect too much of a pocket bin. I walked around London yesterday with my UV 8x20 in a sunglass microfibre bag, in my pocket. Only used them a few times, but hardly knew they were there. I would not have taken anything bigger, regardless of brightness, exit pupil or whatever... even...

    New binos by mid June.

For heavy 'real' use, such as jungle etc.... My choice would be Zeiss Conquest 8x32. The slightly smaller aperture still works fine in lower light, they are small, good field of view, but also fairly light weight. The big advantage, is the bombproof build quality, along with stellar optics...

Leica UV 8x20 versus Zeiss Victory 8x25

    :D Nah..... you got plenty I reckon(y)

Leica UV 8x20 versus Zeiss Victory 8x25

I've also used this format the most this year, mainly because my 8x20 Ultras are always in my bag somewhere... But Chill, I have to disagree with your VP choice there, I believe the Curios rule the 'optical' roost in this category... Sure the VP's are bigger, but those Curios are optically a...

    Choosing a new 10x42?

2nd hand is your best choice if you want good optics. Plenty of good dealers, I would miss private ebay, you never know what you are dealing with. Meostars come in at around 500 on the second hand market, and trust me, you won't get better for your money, they are like Ultravids. Opticrons will...

Leica UV 8x20 versus Zeiss Victory 8x25

Oakley sunglass microfbre bag works very well to protect in a pocket. A bit pricey, but well made.

Zeiss Conquest...eye cups still an issue?

It shouldn't be a big problem. Most folk don't keep messing with eye positions once set, and if there is a problem, you get no quibble replacements from Zeiss. No real drama is it.

Zeiss Conquest HD 8×32 VS Leica Trinovid 8×32 HD?

There is an FL8x32 in the classifieds. Worth a punt, maybe a good cheeky offer ?? If it works, they are an awesome bino, if not, move it on, no real loss. I would rather have an FL than a Conquest or Kowa. And it will hold value. Superb binocular (y)

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

My current set up... Zeiss HT 8x42 Leica Ultravid 8x20 At the moment all basis covered... HT... mega performance, low light, general use, stargazing. Ultra... pocket friendly, carry anywhere, always available, but compromised. Would maybe consider swapping out to a Curio, but those Ultras are...

Curio 7x21 vs. CL 8x25 pocket

8x25's were too big to be truly pocketable. And the superb Zeiss VP8x25 in my opinion are not close to pocketable. Mine were left behind regularly. But 8x20 or 7x21really can disappear on you. You just have to accept the awkwardness..... it's part of the deal. I chose small pockets, and one full...

Curio 7x21 vs. CL 8x25 pocket

Get a Lowepro Tahoe cs20 case, its better than anything Swaro, Leica or Zeiss make. Perfect fit for small pocket binos, and superb protection. And you keep your original case un-used if you decide to sell them. It's always worth playing around with binos to get the right feel. I couldn't settle...

8x20 in possession. Which one to add?

A good middle ground is the Leica Ultravid 8x20. Better than the Trinovid, similar weight..... But... It's not as comfortable to use as the Curio, or CL 8x25, but optically it is close to them. I still believe the Curio is the best small bino right now, and that's from an Ultravid owner. There...
