    Good choice, Kees. I had a NL Pure 10x42 and after two years I traded it in towards a NL Pure 10x32 at my favourite shop House of Outdoor. Jan gave me a great price. I hated the weight and the little bit less light at dusk is a no brainer. Best choice I made.

    I had no real trouble with that. Pupil diameter of humans is average about 2 to 3 mm daytime so 3.2 is on the spot but I can imagine that when you have a 42 bin it really doesn't matter as you are always in the good range.     Poll - Trying to get some numbers on Swarovski rubber armour issues.

    My 10x42 NL is about two years old and I can see light wear on the armour already. No cracks yet. No daily use but let's say days in weekends and some birding trips abroad. No DEET ever or other chemicals. For now I watch and see how this evolves. Hopefully Swarovski steps out of this...

    In my opinion 15 days in Kakadu is a lot. There is a lot to see but I think a week will do. That way you have some days at Litchfield and south to Katherine Gorge area. Or think about going more south into desert area which give you more distinct desert species. Maybe you have some good flooded...

    Maybe so, but there are more hybrids than we think. Though still rare. F.e. An unusual stint in the Netherlands was initially thought to be that country's first record of the least sandpiper, but showed anomalous features for that species, and was a hybrid between Little stint (Calidris minuta)...

    I think it is a Temminck's too. Long winged and jizz of the bird is correct. Could it be a hybrid with a Least Sandpiper? I have heard of Least SP with orangy legs.

    Who says it is a true story? I really doubt a Hawk would attack a human being to get his prey back. While nest defending that is a different story. The photo looks like a Harlan's Hawk (western morph of Red-Tailed Hawk) but the media probably just took a photo of a flying hawk.

    I forwarded your youtube link to Arjan Dwarshuis and he is also thinking it is a Marsh Warbler. Maybe forward it to renowned audio bird geek Arnoud van den Berg, researcher from Sound Approach.

    I am really in doubt here. I am missing the Acro type song of a Marsh Warbler but they are very variable. And a Melodious Warbler is mostly high speed with a stuttering start. I hear Wood Warbler in background. In the end I think it is a Marsh Warbler.
