Problem with green coating of EL SV 8x32

Clearly Swarovski have got the armouring on these bins wrong. They should recall them and fix the problem permanently and at no charge whatsoever to the customer. I applaud them the for trying to be kind to the enviromet, but if I’d doesn't work it need to be fixed.

Optolyth no longer in business? That’s a shame, when did this happen?

You could be right, there must be something left for someone to have a go at. It was a top brand in it's day.

Optolyth no longer in business? That’s a shame, when did this happen?

I don't know why I'm surprised at this, what’s more surprising is that more don't go out of business. I mean they last a lifetime and improvements with modern optics are marginal. I mean, who buys all this the stuff?

Optolyth no longer in business? That’s a shame, when did this happen?

They were still is business under new ownership a about 5 years ago. My first pair of binswas Optolyth Alpin, must be 30, 40 years ago. I thought the were very good. Very lightweight.

    Vortex Razor UHD 12x50 WP

They are all different, most of the time it’s just a matter of preference. The SwarovskI SLC and the Nikon offer a different view to each other. Both excellent bins though.. Of all the bins I've tried, and it's not that many, the Vortex Razor HD comes closest to the SLCs

    Vortex Razor UHD 12x50 WP

The Opticron rep Peter Gamby said on these forums that the modern optics are probably as good as it's going to get and I think he's right. lighting conditions and atmospheric conditions have a huge part to play when checking out optics.

Viper HD vs Razor HD 10x42 FOV

I few years ago when I was looking to change my bins, I had the 10x40 Viper and Razor side by side for over a week, under field conditions and to be honest, optically there was nothing in it. I choose the Razor because at my age 63, it would the last binocular I would buy. Nearly everybody on...

Amazed at the Customer Care from Vortex

What you say makes no sense, no sense whatsoever. They can only offer the warranty the do because warranty returns are low. If the product was as bad as you seem to think they wouldn't be in business. You can't resist having a pop at Vortex. Still, if it makes you happy.

    Vortex Razor UHD 12x50 WP

Micro contrast? I have the the Razor 8x42, 10x42 and 12x50 and they are all brilliant. Crystal clear, you feel like you can reach out touch what you are looking at.

Amazed at the Customer Care from Vortex

And customer care aside, their bins are brilliant, wether they are made in Japan or China. I tried my Vortex Razor 10x42 against Nikon MHG, Zeiss Conquest, and Swarovski SLC all in 10x42. The Vortex were much closer the the Swarovski than the others. I did extensive testing over months between...

    New Monarch M7 8x30 - release date Oct 2021

When first looked through the M7 8x30 I had my Optolyth 12x50 and my old Bausch and Lomb 10x42 at the time. And I remember thinking, why would anybody want better than these. Upgraded all my bins now, still think the view from the M7 8x30 is excellent. I paid £259, bargain.

Nikon MHG rubber over focuser loosening in spots

I tried the Nikon MHG 10x42 against the Vortex Razor and decided to stick with the Vortex. FWIW, The Nikon and the Conquest gave a very similar view. The Razor HD and the Swarovski SLC were very close to each other. Sold the Swaros and kept the Razors.

Lost my Zeiss 8x42 binoculars today

Good result, about 25 years ago I went to the fair at Southport with my wife and the kids. I took the shop takings with me, about £1200. when we returned home I realisied my wallet was missing. I was going straight out the play in a five a side football comp and while I was gone my wife phoned...

    8x32 without blackouts?

I have a pair of Nikon M7 8x30 and I think they are brilliant, espescially for the money. Eye placement is not as easy as my 8x42 or my 10x42 though. Thankfully I don't have a problem with blackouts.

    SoSo Swarovski Service

Come on chaps, the OP has every right for his bins to be exactly the same as everybody who has these. He might be a bit fussy and he has every right to be. What I can't get my head around is, binoculars seem to be returned to the the customer with faults that can be seen when the are inspected...

Lower Mid-Range Bins without "Rolling Ball Effect"

Maybe you're more prone to motion sickness. If you are then the bins might not be the only cause.

Sounds to me like the armour is a poor fit. I doubt if it was designed to be like that.

    Allbinos Vortex 10x42 UHD Review

To be honest, light transmission never crossed my mind when I was buying my bins. and I think it's irrelevant. I just looked at the top three in my price range and bought the ones I liked best. Which was the Razor HD.

    Allbinos Vortex 10x42 UHD Review

It's not my intention to argue with with anyone, much better things to do with my time. I' m just trying to get some clarification on what you said. You are a well respected member of these forums and from what I can gather vastly experienced with regards to optics. Statements like “ Vortex...

    Allbinos Vortex 10x42 UHD Review

Yes but you said “Vortex coating MUST NOT be the same quality as other brands. Light transmission is on the the low side” So what you are saying is, irrespective of anything else, coatings with lower light transmission are inferior the coatings with higher light transmission? Thats what you...
