    Upgrade to TSN-88 from TSN-883?

So I have the TSN-88S...and two Meopta S2s. And very recently had a TSN-883 and a STX-95. From my perspective the difference between any of those is not really much of an upgrade in any direction. The TSN-883/884 are probably the birding scopes all others are compared to. I'd sit tight and...

Any "compact scopes" that you like?

Thanks for the info! I'm gonna keep these two scopes I have....and employ all the will power I have at hand to keep from trying anything else! :ROFLMAO:

    Pocket binoculars

If you want a true pocket binocular, I don't think you'll beat a Leica 8X20. Both the Trinovid and the Ultravid are very nice binoculars. You can see in the picture below how much smaller the Leica is vs. the two 25mms.

Leica UV 8x20 versus Zeiss Victory 8x25

Well thanks for that! I've started to get one several times. I'll keep a watch out for a good deal!

    Best Binocular for...

My most common "sub-optimal" condition is an overcast winter day trying to Id a bird in the top of a tree. I will say if it's a cloudy/overcast winter day I leave the 32mms and less at the house. I tend to use a 8X50 Leica or a FL 10X42 thinking the larger EP or the AK prism might help a...

Leica UV 8x20 versus Zeiss Victory 8x25

You know, they very well may be because I've never so much as looked thru the Curios! I've kicked around getting some BUT.... the 25mm and less format isn't the most used group of binoculars I have. Of course the 30-42mm are my most used group. I all ready have 2 pairs of 8X20 Trinovids, a...

Leica UV 8x20 versus Zeiss Victory 8x25

I've used this class of binocular a good bit this year while birding. Although they are not the BEST instrument to use I have to admit they ARE a lot of fun to use. All are optically better than they should be. But for sure IMO, the Victory Pocket 8X25 rules the roost. It's the combination...

Any "compact scopes" that you like?

Thanks for your comments Hermann. You know, I actually enjoy the lowish magnification of these scopes. Panning a shoreline or waterline with these scopes is very easy and gratifying. The WA eyepiece I have on one of my S2s STARTS at 30X which is the maximum magnification of the ED50. That's...

Any "compact scopes" that you like?

I was able to use both the Vortex and the Nikon scopes yesterday. I went to one of my favorite "scoping" spots, below Wheeler Dam. I also went to " The Sinks" which is another good scoping spot. Both are good spot to compare scopes...lots of distance and lots of birds. Quite honestly, I was...

    Binocular repairs/service

No...no idea.. I'm going to give them a call. I didn't have time before work. It sure would have been quick and easy to be able to finish it online.

Change to Zeiss SFL 10x40 or stick with my Leicas

Hi Jim, I know where you are coming from. I say KEEP the BN and get the SFL. I don't think you will be disappointed with the SFL. I've used the 8X42 version a lot and have compared it to basically everything I have that's similar. It's lightweight, superb focus, and excellent optics that...

    Binocular repairs/service

So I'm attempting to send in a couple of binoculars for some service. Two brands, Swarovski and Vortex. Really a STARK contrast in attempting to do so. Binoculars 1 is a Vortex Razor UHD 10X50 I bought in Decemberish. Focus effort is way to hard and hinge tension not enough. All I did was fill...

    Choosing a new 10x42?

You can probably get used to it somewhat. My way of thinking....I kinda draw the line at 330ft for a 10X42. If that or more, I'll take it! If it's less than 330, I'll pass.

    New midsized Razor UHDs

    Great specs! I have a UHD 10X50....got it on a Christmas deal....optically it's a really nice binocular!

    Choosing a new 10x42?

So according to factory specs for both the Diamondback Classic 10X42 and the Monarch 5 10X42: FOV Diamondback Classic 10X42- 345ft@1000yds FOV Monarch 5 10X42- 293ft@1000yds That's a difference you can "see" IMO. Monarch 5 optics should be a little better....

    Choosing a new 10x42?

I really like this price range of binoculars. IMO it's the first group of binoculars that offer really everything one needs to have and enjoy a really nice binoculars. Some in this price point that I've owned or still own are the Meopta Meopro HD, Vortex Viper HD, Zeiss Terra ED, Nikon M7, and...

Zeiss Conquest...eye cups still an issue?

I just went upstairs to the "binocular closet" and tried both of my Conquest HDs, a 8X32 and a 10X42. The 10X42s have always functioned perfectly, the 8X32 took one session of simply working them up and down a few times. I tried both and they both function literally perfectly. And as Upland...

    Well....YEAH!

    Car binoculars

I have a few that get car duty. The quality of my car binocular goes up as I buy new models! :D I've used Vanguard Endeavor ED II, Vortex Viper HD 8X32(MIJ), Zeiss Terra EDs, and even a SV 8X32 at times! If I were going to get a binocular just FOR that...I'd get a Vortex of my choosing!

Best 8x Bino’s for the money

I can say for sure...the Monarch HG 8X42 and 8X30 I have are made in Japan. I have read here that they were going to be the last of the MIJ binoculars for Nikon. IDK if that is a fact or not.

Zeiss Conquest HD 8×32 VS Leica Trinovid 8×32 HD?

Two binoculars I can use that most eyeglasses wearers can't...Ultravid HD+ 8X32 and the Kowa Genesis 8X33. No way to really know without trying them... I have an idea... Buy both the Conquest HD and the Genesis 8X32 and return the one that doesn't work. Both are currently something like...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8×32 VS Leica Trinovid 8×32 HD?

I've always liked the 8X32 Conquest HD AND the 8X30 Monarch HG. Both are excellent. Lately I've been using the Kowa Genesis 8X33. It may very well be the best of the three but completely splitting hairs here. Currently you can get the Kowa for $799. It works for me WITH glasses(it's close)...
