    That looks useful. My home is in Shanghai but I'm working in Chengdu. Ideally I'd like something that covers all of China, and that's better than what I have. I still intend to treat myself with it for Christmas though!

    Thanks - I'll take a look around there. I've not seen a much as I expected really. Everywhere else I've lived in China was teeming with all manner of birds, but here it's been a little disappointing.

    I'm in Jinshan. LT shrikes are very common here. The nearby reed-beds have reed parrotbills and assorted egrets, herons and bitterns. I've yet to get a 'scope but I'm going to need one for waders (I've never been much good at identifying them, even back home). I don't often go to downtown...
