    Swarovski 7x30 B SLC Mark I produced in the year 2000 ?

Does anyone know what the eye relief is on the 7x30 SLC?

Trinovid vs. Noctivid (& NL Pure)

I loved the Noctivid I had but I had to fuss with the eye placement to avoid blackouts even with cups fully extended. When I tried NL Pure, no issues at all. Just bring them to my eyes and easy viewing. I would have kept the Leica if it had another mm or two eye relief.

Best 8x Bino’s for the money

The SF are the brightest binoculars I have owned and looked through. A nice wide, bright, crisp view. That said, my Swaro 8.5 and the Leica Noctivid have a more relaxed and to my eyes pleasing overall view. Better color contrast and saturation with Swaro, Leica and Nikon for me. The Zeiss SF...

    Car binoculars

Mine are the Vortex Diamondback HD 10x42. They are light, sharp, nice contrast, waterproof, and if they start to break down from being in the car (heat/cold) after a while, Vortex has a great warranty. If someone breaks into the car and steals them they are easier to replace than far more...

10x32 EL SV or 10x42 SLC

    The most recent 2020 version.

10x32 EL SV or 10x42 SLC

Trying to decide which 10x would be best. If both are being offered in mint condition at the same price does anyone have experience with both? I’m unable to make a direct comparison. My main concern is the eye relief on the SLC, which is the most recent version at 16mm. I don’t use eyeglasses...

Will Swarovski upgrade lenses on older 7x42 B SLC?

Thanks John, this was very helpful.

Will Swarovski upgrade lenses on older 7x42 B SLC?

I don’t mind paying for lens/prism upgrade but I’m wondering if newer lenses would fit these older binoculars. It would be nice to have some SLC Neu or HD lenses in them. Otherwise I would be happy with a cleaning. Some hazing and dust inside. The focus wheel sticks a little when adjusted all...

Let’s talk about eyecups (comfort, dimensions, preferences, etc.)

Eye relief has been a constant source of frustration for me. I can’t understand why some binoculars with short eye relief like the Leica Trinovid 8x32 BN with approx 13mm of relief do not give me blackouts but the Leica Ultravid HD-plus with 17mm did give me blackouts. One would think the longer...

Will Swarovski upgrade lenses on older 7x42 B SLC?

I have an older pair of Swarovski 7x42 B SLC from 1992. They need to go in for service for a slow focus wheel and internal cleaning. I'm curious if they will be able to upgrade the objective and ocular lenses and prisms to something more recent? Not sure if their most recent 7x42 optics will fit...

    8x32 advice?

If you like everything about the view through your Nikon SE, I'd recommend going with Leica. I've owned the Zeiss, Leica and Nikon and the Leica shares that color saturation and easy viewing experience of the Nikon.

    Your pick btw 8x32, 8x42, 8.5x42?

I compared the 8x32 and 8.5x42 side by side. I liked the compact size and weight of the 8x32, but preferred the brighter 8.5x42. Ended up ordering them and no regrets.

    Nikon SE vs Everything.

I am fortunate to own both, as well as a few pairs of alphas. To my eyes, I prefer the EII over the SE by a very narrow margin. The wide FOV and center sharpness win it for me. I am still wowed by them every time ai use them. Very few binoculars offer such a brilliant and immersive view for me...

    Ordered Leica Noctivid 8x42 - a mistake..?

I recently sent mine back as well. I had trouble with eye relief and proper placement. Too much fiddling with finding the right position to place them to my eyes. I do not wear glasses when using binoculars.

    Eye relief?

Eye relief is a tricky thing for me. I can look through Nikon EII or Swift Audubon with short eye relief and no blackouts. I recently had to send back a pair of Leica Noctivid 8x42 because even at 18mm ER I was getting blackouts in certain portions. Yet my Leica Trinovid 8x32 BN with shorter eye...

    Backup travel 8x recommendations?

Zeiss Terra 10x42. I compared them recently to a pair of Nikon Monarch 7 and the Zeiss were slightly better overall to my eyes. They are fairly light and easy to focus. You might also look at Pentax models.

    The Binocular Journal

I own a pair of EII and SE as well as a few modern alphas. You’re not missing anything. I’m constantly amazed at the overall image quality of the EII, and the only advantages to the alphas to my eyes are waterproofing, fog proof, possibly durability. You certainly won’t see a $2,000 difference...

After a year with an 8.5x42 SV FPro.

Actually it was sand brown that I handled in person. My understanding is the FIELD PRO is only offered in green in the 8.5x42 model.

After a year with an 8.5x42 SV FPro.

I notice online retailers sell the green version of the field pro but so have also seen what looks like a grey version too. Are these offered in two different colors? Or are they different models?

Swarovski 8x32 EL Field Pro vs Zeiss Victory T* FL 8x32

I’ve only compared them side by side inside the store. I currently own the FL 8x32. My one complaint about thenFL is how it handles glare/flare. Facing the the direction of the sunlight or if snow is on the ground I get a noticeable degree of flaring inside. Purple or rainbow along bottom border...

Why do I like the view so much from these older Minoltas?

I have a pair of Minolta Activa 7x35. Very wide view, center sharpness is outstanding. Edge sharpness leaves a little to be desired as common with ultra-wide binoculars, but the are water proof and images are crisp, clear with great color rendition. Just like their MD camera lenses from the 80s.

Nikon EDG II users, past or present....

I have the 7x42 and it is one of my favorite binoculars. I regularly switch between the Nikon 7x42 and Leica Ultravid HD+ 7x42. Both great bins and comparable in contrast, color saturation, resolution and FOV. Great eye relief and ergonomics as well. They definitely have the "wow factor" when...

    8x42 binoculars choices?

One of the best bang for you buck binocular brands is Pentax. Check out the SP series for a stunning view, weather and fog proof, and won't break the bank. They hold their own against much more expensive competitors. For general purpose you can go with 8x32 or 8x42 which will serve your needs...

Leica 7x42 Ultravid HD+ owners thoughts.

Just did a measurement I get just under 11 feet with mine. FWIW, my Nikon EDG II 7x42 got down to approx. 9 feet. However, I prefer the size and overall view of the Leica.

Advice on Trip to Massachusetts - June 2016

If you are anywhere near Concord or Bedford, check out Great Meadows Wildlife Refuge. Lots of birds, reptiles and critters. Good trails and a observation tower too. Little tricky to find but well worth it when the weather is nice.
