Limburg Netherlands - Goose unknown ....?

Today at fen, bit grey weather, two of them, but far away. Difficult to see, but apparently they have a white head with a black stripe over the head, dark grey to light grey neck, yellow beak, and on one of them (copy 2) there is a vertical white stripe on the side of the neck visible. I can't...

Erawan NP Thailand - Leafbird, which one...?

Early morning.. November 17th 2023. Golden-fronted Leafbird I have found before. But the difference between Golden-fronted and Blue-winged L. is hard to tell. Except that the latter has got more orange forehead, more yellow with the Golden-fronted Leafbird. Pics bit far away.... Somebody knows...

Erawan NP Thailand - Common or Greater Flameback...?

Late afternoon in the NP. Seen before, quite common. Not completely clear which one exactly...but there is a third black line separating the white from the red that could distinguish: Greater Flameback, could that be right? Tnx for advice

Kanchanaburi Thailand - Some kind of Drongo...?

Again November 16th of 2023.. Near the river. I doubt, could be Black or Crow-billed or Bronzed Drongo... If it is a Drongo at all. Since there is some white on the belly it could be an immature Black Drongo perhaps. Anybody? Tnx for help

Kanchanaburi Thailand - Chestnut-tailed Starling or..?

November 16th 2023, on the bank of the River Kwai. After the familiar Black-collared and Asian Pied Starling, this looks like my third Starling species. Is it? Tnx for help

Mae Wong NP Thailand - White-necked Laughingthrush, not White-crested...?

November 24, last year, near the Chong Yen camping. White-crested we found often before. In flocks and very noisy, not shy at all. But this one, with the same behaviour, was a bit more difficult to ID. Only when I put more light and colour in the pic's somewhere they started to look like...

Brabant Netherlands - Wood Lark, not Skylark...?

This morning, same location as in my last two threads. Merlin sound ID showed both species, I found only one, I guess is a Wood Lark, judging from the stripe above the eye, size of tail and apparently lacking crest. Is that correct? Tnx for advice

Brabant Netherlands - Garden Warbler ?

This morning. Same area like the Redstart in my other thread. Not very shy, repeated calling, still bit difficult to spot. Merlin identified Garden and Willow Warbler by sound at this place. I think Willow W. would be more grey, not brown like this, so I go for indeed a Garden Warbler. Is that...

Brabant Netherlands - female Common Redstart ?

This morning. Heathland with many scattered small and some big trees. Partly wet. They say Redstart would be shy. Not this one, came looking at me and calling a rising 'weet, weet', as long as I was there, searching for another, different bird. Later on I found the male as well, that is easier...

    Brabant Netherlands - Warbler or...?

Today in very wet area, climbed up in the reed without flying, quite clear singing... distance 40-50 m. Common Reed Warbler more likely I would say, but apparently also Marsh Warbler sometimes occurs here. I added 2673 to show proportions. Tnx for help

    Brabant Netherlands - Honey-buzzard or ....?

Today, a pair circling high above forested area with clearings and small wetlands. Difficult to get sharp. Somebody said that is not a Common Buzzard. So we followed a book and came to European Honey-Buzzard. Number of dark bands on wings, bit longer than Common Buzzard, tail narrow... but I am...

Brabant Netherlands - Common Stonechat male and female ?

Today at fen, protected area, not shy. Never I came so near to this bird. Actually unmistakable a Stonechat I would say. Pics 2194, 2196, 2243 male and pics 2185, 2188, 2261 a female, is that correct? Tnx for advice

Brabant Netherlands - Tree or Meadow Pipit....?

Today at fen, protected area.. Not shy (could approach to about 5m), very busy singing. My guide says if that if the spots on the flank of the bird's breast are equal size to the spots on the middle of the breast it should be a Meadow P. If there are more thin lines on the flank it should be a...

Brabant Netherlands - Eurasian Linnet ....?

Yesterday evening, during a bird spotting walk with guides. The shutterspeed was too slow, big distance, hard to see, sorry... Some guy with good eyes said: that is a flock of Linnet, landing in a smaller tree. Someone confirmed that ID. I see no red, but several brown backs. Very near we...

Brabant Netherlands - Common Greenshank or ...???

Fen in protected area. In Holland so far I identified Spotted Redshank, Ruff and Green Sandpiper only. Long way to go... Looks like this is a different one. Could be Common Greenshank? In pic 1559 and 1560 the face looks greyish-blue, looks unnatural, artefact or something...? Tnx for help everyone

Phuket Thailand NP - Brahmini Kite as well?

Again, same day, same NP, late afternoon, trees on the seaside, a pair, very noisy and big to my opinion, bigger than the BK's I usually saw. So I thought about some kind of Sea Eagle, but in my guide no have like that, so Brahmini is the only candidate? Tnx again...

Phuket Thailand NP - immature Brahmini Kite or Black Kite...?

May 2021 in a NP. Given the numbers the species on or near these beaches at the Andaman coast this might be an immature Brahmini K. Although I miss the clear separation of white and brown of the mature birds, I found this site last week already: The Jungle Look/info/bird-info/brahminy-kite. My...
