    Binocular repairs/service

So I'm attempting to send in a couple of binoculars for some service. Two brands, Swarovski and Vortex. Really a STARK contrast in attempting to do so. Binoculars 1 is a Vortex Razor UHD 10X50 I bought in Decemberish. Focus effort is way to hard and hinge tension not enough. All I did was fill...

Any "compact scopes" that you like?

I'm going to do a little traveling and am going to "need" a compact scope smaller than the Kowa 664 that I have. I would just get the Swarovski STC but I'm more than likely never going to use it beyond an occasional trip and I really don't want to put that much cash into something I don't think...

    SFL vs. Aurora...

I have been selling a bunch of binoculars lately and was thinking it was time to slightly reverse course! This time I went to at least for me, left field and purchased an Opticron Aurora BGA VHD 8X42(why oh why does Opticron have to use SO many letters?). So here's a short review and a...

    Honey Creek Bill and Beak...

I don't plug very many places. The USA DOES have a brick and mortar dealer in Lewiston, PA. Gordon Parker the owner, is also a member here on BF. He's the one that answers the phone when you call. That's important to my generation and is a difference maker in my book. No hourly, daily...

    A few quick thoughts, 7X35 vs. 8X32

So these two are what I've been using lately. Another case of I really like 'em both. Two completely different platforms and both executed very nicely. I was very surprised I'd like and enjoy the Trinovid 7X35 as much as I have. A 7X with 35mm objectives is really about perfect. Small in...

    Birding after surgery...

Long story short I had open heart surgery to replace a valve and an aortic prothesis August 23rd. Now I don't know how many of you have had to have this done BUT it's, I'll say, something else. So I've had a lot of time off work, about 10 weeks more or less. My rehab was primarily walking and...

    "Other" eye candy....

So these aren't from the "big 4." Not everyone has or needs a binocular from the "big 4" and other makes need to be included. Here's a few! Feel free to add on! Here goes: So here are some 42mm "other" binoculars. Left to right back row: Vanguard Endeavor ED II 8X42, Opticron Verano BGA HD...

So how's the ER on a Duovid?

Got a chance on an excellent shape 8X12 Duovid. Any CHANCE they will work for an eyeglass wearer? Thanks!

    Zeiss eye candy....

First picture is 25mm to 40mm, next is 42mm, then 54/56mm, and finally a group picture. So some of the pictures LOOK out of focus. They are not. It seems the picture hosting website is doing that. Feel free to post your pictures as well!

    Nikon eye candy....

Yesterday used the EDGs, 7X42 and 8X42. I put the others in the Jeep and took a few quick pics. I've got them kinda arranged...30/32mm and 42mm then the whole lot. Always feel free to add your picures!

    UVHD+ 8X32 and eyeglasses...

Has anyone had any success using the UVHD+ 8X32 with eyeglasses? I tried them several years ago and chickened out. No one has these in my surrounding area to try. Asking for a friend....

    Leica eye candy....

Greetings all... Thought I'd post some pictures of the Leica's I currently own. That's all of them except for a 8X42 Noctivid I failed to locate this am. I went birding too and didn't want to spend too much time looking for it. First couple of pictures is anything Trinovid. Next couple is...

    So I took the plunge...

I told myself I wasn't going to do it. I've got good 10X42 binoculars. I use them mostly in the winter and when I go to the Gulf. It's kind of funny what I started out birding with 10X42s but soon realized for me a 7X/8X binocular with a larger FOV suited me best, especially where I usually...

    NL Pure 8X42 pros/cons

Hey everyone! Now that some of you have had your NL 8X42s and have used them for a while I'm interested in what you think about them. I'm happy to hear your overall assessment but also I have a few specific questions if you can answer them. 1. ER with glasses? No issues? Sunglasses is ok! 2...

Zeiss SF 8X32 after 8 weeks of use...

Greetings BF readers! Today I feel pretty comfortable in presenting some info and thoughts on the actual use of my SF 8X32. Eight weeks isn't really a lot time. It usually takes me a little while to sort out a new binocular as was the case here. More time will be needed for a complete opinion...

    Steiner Wildlife XP 8X44....

I have been curious about this Wildlife XP 8X44 for quite a while. It's always "seemed" like it competes with some of alpha-class binoculars. Retail price certainly does as Steiner list the MSRP as $2299.99. I believe around the first of the year I saw it on "sale" for around $899.00 and here...

    Maven offer is KILLING me!!

I don't know. I know how good a Maven B.1/B.2 is. It's pretty close to the best binocular at its price point IMO. Yes, I JUST SOLD a 8X42 B.1. I got to where I rarely used it but hung on to it for quite a while. NOW I'm really wanting another B.2. I had a 9X45 and sold it. It's such an...

Retrovid 7X35 a viable birding binocular?

Sooo... I've had a little time the field behind the Retrovid 7X35. I purchased my sample from Leica of San Francisco. Service was excellent. They kept me informed of when they were to arrive to their store all the way to Alabama. First impression of the binocular is of quality and small...

Huge price difference, GB vs US

Just looking around on EBAY a bit at binocular pricing... A NIB SLC 8X56 shows $2159 shipped for a SONA model. I can MAYBE buy it for around $1959 shipped. Right now there is a NIB same model and priced at $1565 shipped from GB. IMO that's a pretty big price difference. Is SONA service...

    Which would YOU pick....

It's a late winter day. The weather forecast calls for low, thick clouds and the sun will definitely not show it's face today. It IS an off day for you however and all you can think about is getting to get out and look at some birds. You have TWO binoculars at your disposal, a Zeiss FL 10X42...

    A few notes...Maven B.4 15X56

I recently bought a Maven B.4 15X56. It's one of their demos. This is my first venture into the >12X binocular models. This is going to be short and sweet so take it for what it's worth. Between work(it's flu/cough/cold/etc season), SERIOUS birding, goofing off/birding, and 2 week time...
