    Essex Birding

I'm glad I got the message from RBA about the Glossy being retracted, I was on my way so it would have been a wasted journey, no glossy and lack of access. If it transpires that access is now on a 9-5 basis I will, along with most people on this thread be very disappointed – I have often been...

    Essex Birding

I had a drive down LB causeway last night and saw a 4x4 pick-up and a Citroën Saxo parked up... no one was standing on the causeway so i parked up and wondered where they were. Two guys in their early 20's were fishing down the bank and sitting on the overflow wall. They looked at me and...

Nice to see the Osprey returning to Abberton this Sunday, I’m unsure if it was the same individual as last year. The black headed gulls were not too keen on his/her return - i watched it for 20 mins before it got fed up and went to roost for the evening. Good numbers of Lapwings on LB causeway...

I was visiting someone at Colchester General hospital recently and there is a wagtail roost in one of the squares in the centre of the hospital - nice and safe for them i guess.

This morning I could really notice the lighter mornings. On my train journey to work I have a great view of a barn owl flying parallel to the train across the cricket club at Kelvedon, it was a great sight.

Fjords Cruise - What to See?

Thank you all - fingers crossed I managed to see something that we don’t usually get on UK shores anyway. I have been to Iceland before (not cruising) and it is amazing, recommend it to anyone who is thinking of going without a second thought. If think if this holiday works out I will venture...

Fjords Cruise - What to See?

That is a great report thank you! I have not cruised before and we are travelling on the Oceana (family friendly, i have a very young son) From reading your report i think the only cross over in ports is Eidfjord (if i have the names correct). I will certerainly go for a walk to the Orchard...

Fjords Cruise - What to See?

Hi all, I am sure this has been asked before, however i am booked on a P&O cruise in June to the Fjords to Southampton. I am looking for some advice on what to see and where to see birds of Norway. We are calling at Kristiansand, Eidfjord, Flaam and Stavanger. Any help would be great.

Bird and/or Birding event of 2012

Very lucky Dave, I am jealous indeed! My highlight has to be the Abberton Osprey, would love to see them return year on year.

I had to take a trip to Snape Maltings (Suffolk) to see a murmuration, not sure if they are still around. That was back in November if I remember correctly. It was a fantastic view watching them over the reed beds at dusk!
