    A few stickies from Southend, Essex ystrdy.

    The bird below the skua appears to my eyes to be an auk, most likely a Guillemot. I was going to go with dark Arctic Skua, but the apparent amount of white in the wing has got me thinking that Pom might be a better fit.

    Naglers vary a lot with eye relief, though not sure which ones are still available. Could not cope with the original 13mm and 9(?)mm but I have and enjoy the later 12mm design, and used it occasionally when i had the older grey Swarovski. A bit old hat now I guess but I also used a couple of...

    I have seen Azure Hawker late June in the small reserve half way along the north shore of Loch Arkaig. Think its managed for Chequered Skipper which might be flying when you are there.

    [Korea, Jeju Island] Taiga vs Tundra Bean Goose

    The head shape, reminiscent of a Whooper Swan, suggests Middendorff's (Taiga) Bean Goose to me. Could be wrong though, but I've read up on this form in the unlikely event of one turning up in the UK. I don't think you need consider Tundra.

    No 4 is a Calochortus, probably amoenus.

    White eye ring should exclude Ortolan. Grey Necked comes to mind, but a bit out of range.

    Now known as Hesperantha coccinea. Many varieties in the red-white range. Easily divided to produce more.
