    Rangefinding binoculars anyone using them?

Yes definitely agree that it was a one time guess that I was lucky with! Very much doubt my ability to consistently repeat it. I believe those sig kilos are made in the same factory as the vortex. They seem very similar and both the fury and kilo now claim a max 5000 yds on reflective...

best places to bird watch East Anglia

Apologies if this well covered (i'm new!) but are there any "off the beaten track" places to view birds in Essex and East Anglia generally. Specifically I mean going somewhere other than the RSPB reserves (great as they are). Any good woods in Suffolk or Norfolk to walk through to see certain...

    Rangefinding binoculars anyone using them?

When trying out a pair of friend's Vortex Fury rangefinders he asked me to guess how far away some trees were away in the distance. I assessed it for a quick minute and said 150m i'd say. Checked through the range finders and it was 149.9m! Definitely an element of luck with it being near a...

8x42 vs 10x42 the old story from a new perspective

Do you think quality of binocular comes into it. I’ve found that the FOV and close focusing that comes with high end 10x bins adequately compensates for the issues many people mention when describing the advantages of 8x vs 10x

A Review of Meopta MeoStar B1.1 10x42 HD

Nice review. Thanks. I keep thinking I need to introduce some meopta into my optical world and not solely on the rely on the wonderful but expensive German / Austrian stuff. This review only helps to reinforce that view. Having not seen them in the flesh the only thing that would put me off is...

    Rangefinding binoculars anyone using them?

Thanks David - your response captures what I had expected. John, interesting post, thanks for the reference. It may be best to continue to just estimate ranges :-).

    Rangefinding binoculars anyone using them?

I’m relatively new to birding and I have a standard pair of binoculars. It seems rangefinding binoculars are popular with hunters for ballistic calculations etc. However I wondered if there was any uptake in the birding world. I like the idea of them just for the sheer curiosity to know how far...

    Zeiss SF Eyecups

It may be just because I did have the older 3 position eye cups previously.

    Exchange action of Zeiss straps!!!

Got my strap replaced. Sent my SF in for service at the same tome as strap replacement and they replaced the old strap on those so now I have two new straps!

    Zeiss SF Eyecups

I just got my victory SFs serviced my Zeiss. Returned to me last Thursday. Case came with a yellow sticker saying “now with optimised eye cups”. They are 4 position and feel much smoother also slightly matter in finish than the old ones. A big improvement.

    Hello

Hello all. Found the site. New to bird watching. RSPB member after a warden friend roped me into it but found myself enjoying visiting the reserves and spending some time observing nature. Hope to learn more through the site. Thanks
