    This morning I noticed them again. They were woodcocks. Around 3 of them. The beak was unmistakeable. They were all on the road and got flushed by my car. I managed to break close enough to it to identify it.

    Thanks. I assume you are talking about the Rutland Water Ospreys when you said 'an osprey.' Rutland Water is undoubtedly the most accessible place to see then every summer.
