    Rose Breasted Grosbeak passing through

K C, We had about 85 kids and parent types in to do some fishing and a picnik. As I was hauling off the trash I put all the grapes, oj, apples, cookies, rasins, bread, chettos, etc etc on my 4 foot X 4 foot bird feeder and it was the next day I got all the new cool birds.

    Rose Breasted Grosbeak passing through

I have one pair for the last few days. I went to Publix and bought $35.00 worth of fruit for them just so they might hang around. Then headed off to the bird store and bought every nut and berry seed and cake they had. So far so good. Also have a scarlet tanager (male) to go with it. I`m in...

Atlanta area spring migration hot spot?

Hi Doug, I have been off line for a bit and just landed again. I have very little time off in the Summer time but if you are going to be in the Atlanta on a Monday and can holler at me a few days early I would be happy to show you around. I`m no pro birder but I do have some places that I think...

Whoa, check out THIS new Sigma lens!

I like to carry more big glass than anyone I have ever run into but even I`m not going to truck that hog around. I don`t think it would fit on my much beloved Wimberly head and that would be the end of it. I would like to use it on shooting beavers in the moon light from a blind or something...

    future Nikon VR lenses

The Nikon 200-400 VR on a "GOOD" tripod the form to use is the "OFF" swich. If you are on a flimsy tripod or shooting in high winds etc then set the VR to "NORMAL". If you are shooting from a pitching boat, moving car, airplane, or shaking waterbed set the switch to "ACTIVE". This thing really...

Which big telephoto Sigma or Nikon

I have a pile of "big glass" around here and carry way too much of it too many miles every year. For years I would not have carried an aftermarket lens out of a camera store if the guy had given it to me. Mom, times have changed! There is a used 300-800 Sig Monster for sale on your island right...

    hard drives?

Go look at the Epsion P-2000 or the Epsion P-4000. You can see and share and blow way up and edit out the junk fast making more room for the good stuff. Shoot a small j-peg along with your raw. The Epsion will only enlarge the J-peg but that will work just fine out and about. This is a favorite...

Is The Nikon D200 Hard To Understand

Blue Crane Digital, has a great video on how to use your d-200 that will get you up to speed fast. I got mine at Wolf Camera in U.S.A. There is said to be a great one that you can get on line but my weiner dog ate my notes on it yesterday along with a bird mag and the B&H catalog. Canon is said...

Pileated Woodpecker blocked hole with sticks

I have been watching a male pileated go to roost in his tree for about a month now. I stay well back and I only go about once a week. I was holding out hope for a nest come Spring. This week when I stoped by his main hole is cramed full of sticks and a few more are sticking out of another hole...
