Bad photo waders and an extra question

Hello, Elongated rear end caused by pointed primaries projecting well beyond the tail, plus clearly 'leagy' appearance (plus other more or less subjective details as already said too) make this bird a Lesser Yellowlegs for me too. Regards, Alexandre

North Macedonia - Water or Tawny Pipit?

Hello All the features pro-tawny and the reasons why it's not a water pipit had already explained in several post, and I suppose Brian agree with their contents? Each day I look at this topic makes me think of the movie "the groundhog day" :) Regards, Alexandre

North Macedonia - Water or Tawny Pipit?

All the features but not entirely black bill, nor slighty contrasting light geyish-brown crown Vs brownish mantle, int of darkish streaks on this latter and on flanks, nor concolorous ear coverts withour isolated and contrasting moustachial stripe... etc. But I repeat myself, even though I...

North Macedonia - Water or Tawny Pipit?

Ok I see, so I suppose you'r talking about a intergrade of some yellow wagtail subspecies. But at this time of year it's absolutly no way a female (and most obviously a male) yellow wagtail - never mind the subspecies/hybrid involved - could look like that bird... Definitely a Tawny Pipit for...

North Macedonia - Water or Tawny Pipit?

Ok but in my point of view, an hybrid of some sort between wagtail and pipit, wich is, at most, extremely rare, seems an odd hypothesis - like a wagtail - in comparison of a Tawny Pipit pictured in bad light and with quite strong photo effect... I have arleady post my arguments pointing to a...

North Macedonia - Water or Tawny Pipit?

Thanks Ryszard and Mike for this details, but I still think it's a straightforward Tawny Pipit wich was photographied in bad light, and for witch the picture is pixelated - wich doesn't help to identifying the bird. The bill of the bird show a slighty bright under mandible, and not a totally...

North Macedonia - Water or Tawny Pipit?

Hello all, For me, and although the picture doesn't do it justice, everything on this bird fit ad. tawny Pipit, especially the coloration and pattern of the medium covert, the malard and the moustachial stripes, the uniformity of the sandy-grey colour of the upper parts etc. Regards, Alexandre

    Little Swift? N.East London

Hello, I'm not a "Swift expert", but I don't see any Little Swift in these pictures. In the second shot, among others criteria I think the shape of the tail - with too long external feathers - and the paleness of the greater coverts especially exclude this species . But with this sole picture I...

    Wader ,Crete

Hello, 'Think Butty means "Curlew Sandpiper", not "Curlew sp." Seems a good call to me too.

Pacific or American plover ID needed

Hello, Bill to slim and wing to long for Grey Plover IMO... Jizz and pattern of feathers + eyebrow and "capped effect" looks good for AGP for me. Alexandre
