    Garden / Yard List 2017

I was lucky enough to have two broad winged hummingbirds join me for morning coffee.

Good way to start the day.

Beginning birder here. I was able to enjoy my morning coffee this morning in the company of two beautiful broad-winged hummingbirds on my patio. Thankfully the finches and sparrows let them be for a while!

    Finch I believe?

That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying that for me.

    Finch I believe?

I have the National Geopgraphic guide and there was no map next to the Rosefinch (not sure if misprint or just left out) and I briefly glanced at the description without looking thoroughly so I think that's where I got confused.

    Which Books ?

I purchased the NG North American version and I am very pleased. Comprehensive yet user friendly for a beginner such as myself. Little large to throw in a pocket though.

    First House Finch Variant

I was able to log my first variant house finch today in the back yard (yellow instead of red.) As a new birder I found it rather exciting.

    Finch I believe?

I'm unsure if this bird is a female House Finch or Common Rose Finch. I almost want to say Cassin Finch but it lacks a distinct eyebrow. I live and took the photo in south-central Wyoming in the United States. Sagebrush flats at about 7,220 feet elevation. Thank you!

    Breaking in the new binoculars.

I just recently got a new pair of binoculars and couldn't help myself to try digiscoping. Just some backyard birds, sparrows and finches, but still fun and satisfying! Also very pleased with the new glass.

RFI - Planning a trip in Wyoming in September

I live in South Central Wyoming (Rawlins) and the Sage Grouse population is quite healthy in my area, especially in the sage brush flats that border small stands of trees. Up higher in the mountain forests the red headed woodpeckers can be found. I commonly see both, especially when I am out...

new Zeiss 10x42 Victory SF T*

I can't compare to the older models but I did just purchase the new Victory SF 10x42 and they are fantastic. The only thing that I can compare them with would be the Swaro EL but in my opinion Zeiss surpasses them.
