New Caledonian White-eye
I wanted to include a picture of a bird from every country I’ve visited in my gallery. This is my first picture of a bird from New Caledonia, a Green-backed White-eye (AKA New Caledonian White-eye). It’s endemic to New Caledonia where I found it fairly common but hard to photograph with my simple point and shoot style cameras. As I was sorting through old pictures, I was surprised to see two birds in this frame (one father back has its back turned). I’d never noticed it before.

A gorgeous-looking bird, and it's a treat to see them both together (initially, I didn't notice the second one)!

Lovely capture of these pretty little birds. I have some that look exactly the same that visit my backyard here in Australia. We call them Silvereyes.
