Kuwait Laughing Dove
This was one of the final pictures I took after spending about six months in the Middle-East during the winter of 2005/2006. It was taken near Ali Al Salem Air Base, about 40 miles from the border with Iraq. Since doves are a recognized sign of peace, it was fitting to photograph this one as I was leaving the (then) combat theater. I didn't have a picture in my gallery from Kuwait so this will fill that gap. I don't recall what camera I used for the picture but as I was walking along the base fence line with a spotting scope, tripod and binoculars, I was surprised when two American MPs zipped up in a vehicle and jumped out with shotguns to make sure I wasn't some sort of spy who'd illegally entered the base (as a civilian, I wore regular clothes rather than military uniforms). Once they realized I was a bird-watching American civilian they let me go on my way, but I'm sure they had a good laugh once out of ear-shot.

I am glad you made it home Joe! What a memorable species and time to capture this dove on the razor wire. TFS!
