Bronze Anole (Anolis aeneus)
Identification somewhat provisional. There are at least four species of Anole native to the Grenadines but this is the only one which shows a heavily mottled appearance. Sometimes called "Chameleons," Anoles can change color from brown to green, but they are not true Chameleons. Among herpetologists "anole" is almost invariably pronounced with two syllables “UH-knoll” or “AN-knoll”, but the etymologically correct pronunciation is three syllables ə-ˈnō-lē (Merriam Webster) as it derives from Creole/French.
